Erik Stancofski is an experienced general surgeon who has spent nearly three decades caring for patients in Lewes, Delaware and communities throughout the Delmarva Peninsula. His surgical experience encompasses general surgery, hernia repair, colorectal procedures, gallbladder conditions and minimally invasive techniques.
Since establishing his career in Lewes in 1998, Erik has developed strong ties to the local medical community. His professional journey has included private practice, surgical leadership and continued work as an attending general surgeon.
Technical ability is only one part of effective surgical care. Erik believes patients should understand their condition, why a particular treatment may be recommended and what they can realistically expect throughout recovery.
This emphasis on communication complements decades of hands-on surgical experience. From relatively routine procedures to more complicated surgical cases, his goal is to approach each patient individually rather than treating surgery as a one-size-fits-all process.
Advances in surgical technology have created new opportunities to perform certain procedures through smaller incisions. Erik has incorporated minimally invasive and robotic techniques into a substantial portion of his surgical practice.

Erik's relationship with Lewes extends beyond the operating room. After arriving in the community in 1998, he went on to co-found Cape Surgical Associates and later joined Beebe, where his responsibilities eventually included serving as Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery.
Outside of medicine, he maintains an active lifestyle and enjoys swimming, cycling, skiing, motorcycling and travel.
